1. Explorers shall not willfully violate any federal statute, state laws, or local ordinance.
2 Explorers shall maintain a respectful demeanor with the public, Departmental personnel and volunteers. They shall conduct themselves at all times in a manner which will not discredit themselves, the Explorer Program, or this Department
3. Explorers are not Law Enforcement Officers and shall not under any
circumstances impersonate a Deputy Sheriff or Peace
Officer.
4. Explorers shall not handle or operate Department weapons unless in
the immediate
defense of their own life or under strict supervision
of a Deputy Sheriff.
5. Explorers shall not discuss or relate information obtained through the Department regarding Departmental Operations or Investigations. Explorers shall not utilize Departmental records, systems, or equipment for their own use. The official business of the Department is confidential.
6. Explorers shall wear their prescribed uniforms to all Explorer assignments including meetings. unless excused by the Post Advisor or Explorer Staff. Explorers not in uniform are required at all times to wear their I.D. while in Sheriffs Department facilities
7. Explorers shall rot loiter within or on the grounds of any Sheriff's facility.
8. Explorers shall not fraternize or socialize with Deputy personnel except during Post or Departmentally sanctioned events.
9. Explorers shall obey the lawful orders of the Post Advisor and all others with supervisory authority.
10. When scheduled to work, Explorers shall report to their assignment on time. If unable to complete the assignment, it is the Explorer's responsibility to find a replacement and notify the Post Sergeant as to who their replacement will be. It is the responsibility of the replacement to advise the Watch Sergeant of the schedule change.
11. Explorers shall be expected to perform all assignments without unnecessary complaint regardless of the type of assignment
12. Explorers shall attend all Explorer meetings unless excused by the Post Advisor.
13. Two unexcused absences within a two-month period will result in
a month's suspension.
For Staff members, discipline may include a reduction in rank
Three unexcused absences within a two-month period may result in dismissal
from the Program.
14. All pending suspensions or dismissals are to be reviewed by the
Post Staff members. The final decision will be approved by the Post
Advisor.
15. Explorers shall be respectful to fellow Explorers regardless of
race, religion, sex,
social standing or rank.
16. All Ride-Alongs shall be scheduled through the Post Advisor In accordance with Department policy. Under no circumstances will an Explorer solicit a Ride-Along with a field Deputy.
17. Explorers shall not ride as an observer longer than one shift.
18. Explorers shall not Ride-Along on early morning shift. Their shift must terminate no later than 2400 hours.
19. Explorers shall not ride with the same Deputy more than two times per month.
20. Explorers shall read. Understand and adhere to the law Enforcement Explorer Manual of Policy and Procedure.
21. Explorers shall adhere to any additional rules and regulations implemented
by their individual Post.
1. No Explorer will wear any of the following equipment of uniforms:
Ammo carriers, Baton rings, Batons, Deputy Class "A"
Uniform, federal streamer, hand cuffs or flexcuffs,
Sam/Sally Brown Belts, Saps, Weapons. (Manual 4-20/50)
2. Explorers shall not smoke or chew tobacco at any Explorer function or have cigarettes or tobacco in their possession.
3. Explorers appearing in court shall wear civilian clothing of good taste and business-like appearance.
4. Explorers shall not wear their insignia of rank while working with any Deputy Sheriff.
5. Explorers, when on a work assignment, will not leave their post or area unless properly relieved.
6. Explorers shall stay out of the front desk area unless you are assigned to work in that area and you are in uniform.
7. Explorers shall stay out of the jail area at all times.
8. You shall not use profanity.
9. Do not use the station phones for personal calls.
10. Any violation of this code or any regulation in the Explorer Manual shall result in disciplinary action.
11. Disciplinary action will result in one or any of the following,
depending upon the nature of the violation:
A. Oral Reprimand
B. Written Reprimand
C. Suspension
D. Demotion
E. Probation--(in which any further violation of
any kind will result in dismissal.)
